Welcome to our blog! We’re extremely excited to announce that Telling Our Stories, Finding Our Roots: Devon’s Multicultural History is underway.
Over the next year we will be working in three Devon towns (Tiverton, Okehampton and Bideford), supporting local volunteers to explore and share the rich and diverse history of their communities. Through archival research and oral history, we will uncover untold stories of BAME* residents past and present, and broaden and deepen our understanding of the history of these Devon towns.
Next year, we’ll share our stories – through public storytelling events and exhibitions, and a permanent digital archive, which will make the rich and fascinating stories of our participants accessible to anyone, anywhere.
There’s lots of opportunities to get involved. Keep an eye on this page for details, share widely with friends and family in our focus towns, and send us a message / email or give us a call to have a chat about the project. Our contact details can be found here – get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
This project is being supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
*We use BAME to mean members of Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, migrants from anywhere in the world, and British people with heritage from other countries, cultures or faiths.
